Hydrangea rampicante 'Petiolaris'
This is a beautiful deciduous climber; it is sturdy, does not have particular requirements for its site or soil, and can withstand even a very intense cold. It is suitable to be placed at the foot of a large tree, since it does well even in full shade, and can be used as a ground cover or planted against a wall, to which it clings with aerial roots, like ivy. The inflorescences are lacy; they open in June-July among light-green heart-shaped leaves, and persist for a long time if the plant is in semi-shade. During the autumn, the thick foliage becomes a warm golden-yellow, in perfect harmony with the season’s colouring. This hydrangea comes from Japan.
