Hydrangea aspera 'Strigosa'
A rare shrub of outstanding qualities, even if of slow growth. The flower heads of white sterile and lilac fertile florets, will open rather late in the season when nearly all the other hydrangea have already finished their blooming. The leaves are lanceolate and both leaves and branches are covered with hair. Found in Central China (Sichuan) in the mountain valleys at 1000 to 2000 meters and introduced in Europe around 1907. Mature, this shrub can reach 3 meters. It is considered, by some botanists, a species apart.
