Hydrangea serrata 'Rosea' One of the very first hydrangea to arrive to Europe from Japan; already around the year 1880. Known in Japan as 'Hime Ajisai', this serrata was described as a macrophylla for years, whilst it is in fact a H. serrata subsp. yezoensis. The H. serrata 'Rosea' is, together with the H. macrophylla 'Otaksa', one of the ancestors of all the European-bred mop-head hydrangea. A sturdy and at the same time graceful bush with small light pink mop-head flowers that tend to be rather loose. Leaves are medium green and turn bronze coloured when mature, whilst the flowers changes into very pale green. About 1,20 meters. Some shade. | |
